| Santa Clara Swing |
Santa Clara Swing, an after-school activity at Santa Clara High School, is continuing its development this year under the tutelage of Steve Tyler, former trombonist with The Hot Frogs and with Harry James. On any given day a festival go-er can expect to hear this band play one traditional jazz set using arrangements and charts, another traditional set improvised from lead sheets, and a swing set using big band arrangements from the 30s and 40s. |

| Fresno High School Warriors |
The Fresno High School Warrior Jazz Band is under the current direction of Dave Ruffner. The band was first formed around 1937. It is a part of the Fresno High School music department. Fresno High School was founded in 1889. Two of the most notable musicians to attend Fresno High School are accordionist Dick Contino, and songwriter Ross Bagdasarian aka David Seville (of Alvin and the Chipmunk fame). The Warrior Jazz Band plays an array of jazz styles but will focus on playing music specifically for dancing (big band swing) at the Dixieland Monterey Festival. |
